Hampden Children’s Day to kick off Aug. 12

The Town of Hampden will be celebrating its 38th annual Children’s Day celebration Saturday, Aug. 12 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Weatherbee McGraw School, 24 Main Rd. North. This year’s theme is Kids Rule!  

Special thanks go out to Hamlin Marine for donating the boat, motor and trailer, which are raffled off to pay for a major portion of Children’s Day. Other donors include  RSU 22, The Home Depot and Sam’s Club.


Schedule highlights:

11 a.m.: Parade begins at Reeds Brook Middle School and ends at Hampden Academy.

12-4 p.m. Children’s events at the Weatherbee McGraw School grounds. Activities include: bounce houses, obstacle course field games, Home Depot construction activities, A.C. Moore crafts, face painting, touch-a-truck, animal balloons, Tactical Nerf in the gym, and more. Music during the event includes bagpipes by Peter Beckford.

1:45 p.m.: Pie eating contest.

2:30 p.m. Rick Charette Children’s Show

9:00 p.m. Fireworks. Begin on the Baseball Field (behind Weatherbee School).

* Food and refreshments are available through the day and later in the evening including lemonade, soda, water, hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, doughboys, ice cream, popcorn and cotton candy.
